MODULE 2- FLATNESS & PROJECTION

Elevation 1 Elevation 2

During the process, I chose 6 elements from my elevations and explore the colour rendering. As shown in the coloured blocks, by using illustrator, I set up the light and shadow differently, which creates a vision such the elements are made of different material and texture. For example, the pipe and the coins, I made the light highly contrast to the darkest part, therefore, it seems like it is in metal. However, the green rectangular column and the rattan are rendered more flat, which seems complete different with the pipe even they are in the same basic colour. This part is the most helpful one in the whole process, it helps me to understand some techniques such as use of layers, line&curve drawings in illustrator, which helps my effiency in my future work.

The hand drawing using T-square and 45 degree set square, is based on the skills that I got from last module. It would be really fast and easy to draw straight lines in axonometric. However, one difficulity I met, was the curves and circles, they are more inluenced by the direction its facing as well as 45 degree angle, all makes it hard to define it's actual shape that demonstrate in the axonometric world.

In the end, the world is in a theme of tressure. As shown, there are lots of coins hiding and flowing in the world. This process requires me to have a skill to organise order of the layers, and differentiate the levels in different layers. As long as the layers are well organised, it will be far more easy to colour the whole world.
During the time I complete module 2, I learnt about the difference between flatness and projection. As my world processed, I have a chance to understand how axonometric projection construct a 3D world with rendering and shadow to give its depth. Then, it is an impartant skill that I could connect a space based on two elevations, the skill of transforming 2D into 3D and see their conneciton will be impartant in the future course if I study in major architecture. Aslo, the ability of using illustrator with vector based image is well develpoed.
