Module 2,
Generating Design Through Digital Processes
In this module, digital fabrication and parametric software will be explored through two tasks- A and B. Task A will explore volumes and 3D prining techniques with a focus on additive and subtractive processes. Task B will explore surfaces and laser cutting techniques. Both tasks will work with 100mm*100mm*100mm bounding box as frame to construct model.
Through these tasks, an understanding of the iterative nature of digital desigin and work through a workflow from design to physical outcome has generated.
The digital tools used in this module:
- rhino
- grasshopper
- gh plugin: paneling tool
digital fabrication techniques:
- 3d print with makerbot
- laser cut
final models
"the question is no longer whether a particular form is buildable, but what new instruments of practice are needed to take advantage of the opportunities opened up by the digital modes of production"
